Abstract EN

The study aims to highlight the problems of literary translation, particularly the cultural ones and the structural difficulties of literary texts.

It also focuses on the aesthetic features and characteristics of the source text.

Furthermore, the study explores the translation strategies, methods and techniques employed by translator to solve these problems and difficulties.

The study deals with a literary work written by the Sudanese author Muawia Mohammed Noor and its translation from Arabic into English.

The study shows that the practice of literary translation is a difficult endeavour that demands a translator with formidable capabilities to solve the problems he encounters by choosing the translation strategies, methods and techniques that best suits the translation of literary texts.

The study concludes that direct and indirect translation strategies, along with other techniques, can be employed to address the problems of literary translation.

Nevertheless, the translator should have some sort of literary spirit.
