Abstract EN

This article examines and researches one of the most serious internal crises in the Movement for the Triumph of Democratic Liberties (MTLD): i.e.

the Berber crisis that exploded in 1949 between a group of young militants from the Kabylia region, and the leaders of the Movement in Algiers.

It is a crisis that started in France, but it soon entered Algeria and created a real confusion within the Party due to its complex nature that was associated with the first party raising the issue of the Berber (Amazigh) dimension of Algeria in the movement's program, after it noticed the Arab-Islamic orientation devoted by the leaders, conducted by Messali Hadj.

To this aspect of the crisis is added another one, which cannot be separated from the struggle for leadership.

This struggle has had dangerous consequences and repercussions for the immediate future of the Party, after the commanders of the Party isolated the many accused leaders and militants belonging to the Kabylia region, rather than judicious dealing with the crisis.

This is not to mention the long-term consequences and repercussions of the crisis.
