English Abstract

Contracts of sea touristic travel are expected to grow in Qatar.

These contracts varies in legal nature, and generally classified between organized travel and the intermediary thereof.

Comparative law indicates the need of specific legislation to protect tourists in these contracts, especially in sea tourism.

This research critically analyzes the aspects of inadequacy of Qatari law, applicable to contracts of sea touristic travel, concluding to the need of a new Qatari legislation for touristic contracts in general, in addition to specific provisions in the Maritime Code for the contract of sea touristic travel, and accession to relevant Maritime Conventions, namely Athens Convention 1974/2002, and London Maritime Claims Convention 1976/1996.
