Abstract EN

Conflict of laws is an important topic in Private International Law; some academics define Private International Law to mean only conflict of Laws.

These rules determine the applicable law in legal relationships and disputes that involve foreign element.

Therefore, it is with great significance to study that Qatari conflict of Laws rules because Qatar has a modern legal system and the demographic characteristics of the population of the State of Qatar that reveal high percentage of foreigners residing in Qatar.

This study attempts to critically review and assess the Qatari conflict of Laws rules in terms of the general and special rules in personal and family relations and disputes as well as financial transactions.

The aim of the study is to highlight any shortcomings that needs review and amendment.

It also provides for certain approaches and recommendations to improve the conflict of law rules in Qatar to conform to new trends in conflict of laws and accommodate with Qatar’s specialties in demographic, economic, and legal aspects.
