Abstract EN

Praise to Allah, Lord of the Worlds.

And peace and blessings be upon His Messenger Muhammad and his family and companions.

The Orientalists bear a large part of the responsibility towards the false image of Islam and Muslims in the West.

Although they differ in their nationalities, their approach and means and goals seem to be unique towards Islam and the Quran.

The research is a critical study of the view of a British Orientalist, George Sale towards some terms of the Quran, which he put in his translation of the meanings of the Quran, issued in 1734.

The researcher tried to explain the opinion of George Sale and how he dealt with them.

It has become clear that George Sale wasn’t objective when dealing with Islamic studies.

He considered the Quran to be the same as all other human literary work.

He didn’t confirm his revelation from Allah.

Rather, he claimed that the Quran was the creation of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and that he-Quran- was inherited from previous cultures.

He went further than that when he quoted that the Quran was taken from the two testament “the Old and the New Testament”.

The study concluded that the approach adopted by this Orientalist - who was well fed with Western ideas - was fully unscientific and imbalanced, which distorted the facts.

In the translated version of the meanings of the Quran in English, the texts were sometimes cut off, and the scientific fidelity/ reliability was absent at other times, which make the Orientalist in a great disorder in the curriculum.
