The research aims at identifying the challenges facing the Arab popular culture, especially the customs and traditions of marriage in the Iraqi city in the era of information communication flow.

The importance of the research is undoubtedly based on the fact that the special characteristics of the popular culture are essentially the collective conscience of the society and its cultural identity, which emphasizes one cultural depth, inherited through successive generations, both through oral transmission as in cultural practices in the marriage system or through blogs Or the achievements that reflect the popular art material such as ornaments and gold bracelets provided for bride as well as clothing including white wedding suit and its cultural and symbolic implications, In this context, the non-material folklore, which is threatened by the disappearance or gradual loss, remains the most disturbing thing in this respect.

Globalization influenced its cultural elements and psychological and economic pressures through modern means of communication and its impact on new generations that practice customs and traditions.

And the current conflict between the cultural heritage and the cultural elements that enter the Iraqi society in its various regions, including many rural areas which for a short time constituted cultural buffers defending the popular heritage of the customs and traditions of marriage However, the rapid changes in Iraqi society in the current stage, especially in the cities, have become a fundamental challenge to the culture of marriage and its popular heritage methods.

Many of these elements are now threatened with extinction.

Hence, it is necessary to know the transformations that this culture is subjected to.

And to work to make the local cultural component effective so that it can adapt the cultural component of the expatriate and make it adapted from the prevailing popular culture so that it can modernize its methods and methods to preserve the essence of our culture, especially in the intangible aspect of this matter.

To study the customs and traditions of marriage in Iraqi society, especially in the city community, which is subject to fundamental changes, To understand this research will depend on the methodological approach and functional approach to understand the phenomenon and to identify the elements and variables to reach the results of scientific objective.
