Basra province is facing a turbulent increase in population* as it has become nearly three million people or more.

After it had a population of about (600.000 six hundred thousand people only) before the decade and a half of time- and the rate of growth in high and agricultural resources are limited and the line is established and threaten the population- so we went to invest its territory in the areas of agriculture- particularly crops that provide food security for the people of Basra.

Which requires of us as researchers and specialists in this regard to find all the traditional methods and the process to raise the level of food production in the province- this requires increased attention to areas of land which produces food for the mam land by reclaiming new land added to the area under cultivation.

From this point of attracting our attention reclamation of desert lands in the province because they represent a vast area of land in Basra* which is the territory of a few rain and many of winch are not cultivated agriculture organization.

The study is the contribution of simple to treat the problems of desert land located in the province- as well as the use of technology and the various methods that contribute to the treatment of these problems as well as from the study is a guide to action ideal for farmers- farmers and researchers in the field of agriculture- soil- geomorphology- hydrology- a field experiment could be used in the field of development local to the province of Basra* dear.

Turning to study land-based sources in the province of Basra* was to clarify the properties of salt affected land.

As well as find detailed three types of the mainland in the study area (land limestone* clay* and soil gypsum) and the properties of each type in addition to a plan by researcher mechanisms gradient within the field work to reclaim land affected by desertification* as well as the land barren abandoned.
