Field Studies were undertaken to investigate the effect of local mineral oil applied alone or in combination with come other chemicals on the giean peech aphid Myzus persicae Sulz.

and the incidence of virus diseases on potatoes dunng 1993 and 1996 seasons.

All treatments effectively suppressed aphid population, but there was no consistent correlation between number of 3phid and the incidence of Potato virus Y or Potato Leaf roll virus in the treated plots, indicating the presence of other means of virus transmission.

Environmental factors might have a big role in virus distribution within a potato field.

Mineral oil or its mixture with other chemicals resulted in variable effect on potato yield.

Phytotoxicity might have occurred and resulted in yield decrease.
