Eight insecticides were tested for the control of codling moth, Cydia pomonella (L.), under southern Syrian conditions in a highly infested orchard.
No acceptable control was achieved with two applications with any of the insecticides used.
Diflubenzuron and fenoxycarb gave much better control of both generations with an efficacy (Abbott) of 67.1 and 63.1%, respectively.
Results for bio-insecticides (Cydia pomonella granulovirus (CpGV), Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner and Beauveria bassina (Bals.)) were not encouraging, however, among the three biocontrol agents, CpGV gave the highest relative efficacy.
Flufenoxuron, lufenuron and esfenvalerate showed medium relative efficacy
