English Abstract

The aim of this study was to identify the relationship between the interaction of university youth on social networking sites and the themes of digital citizenship.

This study is part of the descriptive research.

The survey methodology was used in a sample of university youth distributed over 400 universities, (200) for Minia University, and 200 for Cairo University, distributed in a simple random way.

The researchers adopted the objectives of the study and collected the data on the survey form and the scale of the digital citizenship axes.

They were presented to a group of arbitrators specialized in media and educational technology.

a Researchers to a range of results, including the following: • The site "Facebook" list of social networking sites followed by respondents (92.2%), followed by the site "YouTube" in the second ranking (79.4%).

• More than half of respondents use social networking sites "daily" (58%).

• The degree of interaction with colleagues and friends through social networking sites was "always" in the first ranking (67.3%).

(55.8%), topics that "belong to my studies" in the second ranking (55.3%), and finally, "political issues, especially those that are related to more than one field at the same time" Related to current events ".

• The existence of a positive correlation relationship between the interaction of university youth in the sample of the study on the social networking sites and the themes of digital citizenship represented in: (digital commerce, digital access, digital communication and digital literacy).

• There were statistically significant differences between males and females in the rate of interaction of university youth in the study sample on social networking sites.

• There are statistically significant differences between rural and urban in the concept of digital citizenship for the benefit of the urban population; in other words, urban and urban populations are more accommodating and familiar with the concept of digital citizenship than the rural population.
