تعد الحالة النفسية لدى المسنين محصلة خبرة سنين طويله أثرت بها عوامل سلبية و ايجابية و بدرجات متفاوتة على الصحة النفسية للمسنين لتصل في النهاية إلى حالة نفسية متشكلة و هي حالة غير متساوية لكل المسنين بل تختلف تبعا لكل مسن و حسب الأحوال البيئية و الاجتماعية و الاقتصادية و الصحية التي يعيشها لذلك تظهر بين المسنين في دور الرعاية الاجتماعية خلافات كثيره حسب البيئات التي انحدروا منها.
و بما أن الصحة النفسية تعرف بأنها حالة من توافق الفرد نفسياً و انفعاليا و اجتماعياً تشعره بالسعادة لأنه قادر على التكيف و تحقيق ذاته مع نفسة و البيئة المحيطة و يستطيع تجاوز الازمات و العيش بأمان.
و الصحة النفسية للمسن هي نتاج عوامل نجاح و فشل و سرور و إحباط و إخفاقات و تكيف و صراع و هي في مجملها عناصر تجعلنا نهتم أكثر بالمسنين من الناحية النفسية و الصحية و رعايتهم و مدى قدرتهم على التكيف بهذه المرحلة المتأخرة من العمر مع الآخرين خاصه و أنه يفتقد الأهل و الزوجة و الأولاد و عدم الأمان المادي ثم نظره المجتمع أليه في دار الرعاية الاجتماعية.
لهذا ارتأت الباحثة قياس الصحة النفسية لدى كبار السن في دور الرعاية الحكومية؟ هدف البحث : إلى قياس الصحة النفسية عند كبار السن وفق عده متغيرات (الجنس-العمر-الحالة الاجتماعية) في دار الرعاية الاجتماعية / الصليخ في بغداد، تكونت عينه البحث من (24) مسناً أذ بلغ عدد الذكور (25) فرداً و من الإناث (17)، و تم اختيار العينة بشكل قصدي ممن هم أعمارهم بين (45-65) و من هم أقل عرضه للإصابات بالأمراض المزمنة و الخطيرة، و من ثم يبني و تعديل على مقياس الصحة النفسية لمصطفى 2016 لأن فقراته بسيطة و يتكون المقياس من (30) فقره و تم إضافة عشرة فقرات و بذلك أصبح (40) فقرة و تحت ثلاثة بدائل، و بعد التطبيق أظهرت النتائج أن عينة البحث من كبار السن يتمتعون بنسبه جيده من الصحة النفسية و في ضوء النتائج قدمت الباحثة جملة من التوصيات و المقترحات.

The psychological condition of the elderly is the result of years of experience, which has been affected by negative and positive factors and to varying degrees on the mental health of the elderly.
Eventually, it is a psychological condition, which is not equal for all the elderly, but varies according to each elderly and according to the environmental, social, economic and health conditions.
Among the elderly in social care homes there are many differences according to the environments in which they descended.
As the mental health of the elderly is the result of factors of success and failure and pleasure and frustration and failures and adaptation and conflict, which are all elements make us care more elderly people from the psychological and health and care and the ability to adapt in this late stage of life with others in particular and he lacks parents and children and insecurity The material then looked at the community at the Social Welfare House.
The current research aims to identify the mental health of the elderly according to various variables (sex-age-social status) in the social welfare center in Baghdad.
The research sample consisted of (42) elderly men (25) and females (17) (45-65) and those who are less prone to chronic and serious diseases.
Thus, the mental health measure of Mustafa 2016 has been modified because its paragraphs are simple and the scale consists of (30) paragraphs, (40) and under three alternatives, after the application showed the results to the elderly enjoy a good proportion of mental health and in the light of the net A researcher made a number of recommendations and proposals).
