Abstract EN

This article put into perspective the notion of flexibility as a strategic tool for responding to economic crisis.

It explored the different definitions of the theme of flexibility and domains to apply it.

This study explored the relationship between flexibility and various dimensions of the organization by addressing the following questions: what are the numerous strategies and methods to realize a flexible strategy? What are the structural, organizational, and logistic supports of a flexible productive system? What kinds of flexibility can be adopted for an appropriate efficient human resource management? And finally, how can organization take favor of the important role of information systems in getting a high degree of flexibility? Four domains were determined for applying flexibility: flexible specialization, flexible technologies, flexible and agile organization.

The study concluded that diversification, innovation and technological strategies can be considered for a strategic flexibility.

In production, adopting flexible workshops or sub-contracting, with a just in time process may be more appropriate for flexibility.

In term of HR, it can be more convenient to combine qualitative and quantitative flexibility approaches for a flexible management.

Finally, the study approved the necessity of having an effective information system for efficient decision making.
