Abstract EN

This research deals with the legal nature of military alliances, their general characteristics and their forms, which differ according to the criteria applied to them in the classification process in general international law.

The researcher presented the legal nature of military alliances and whether alliances and military blocs are regional organizations.

Military alliances and blocs do not amount to international organizations, while the other direction is bestowed upon them by international organizations and by evidence of each direction.

The researcher concluded that the main task of military alliances in international law is to maintain international peace and security, regardless of the alliance, whether defensive or offensive, and that the principles and objectives of military alliances are sometimes consistent with the principles and objectives of international organizations.
