Abstract EN

This researcher aimed at identifying:- 1- The five major factors of personality among university students, depending on gender and specialization variables.

2- The unrealistic optimism of university students, depending on gender and specialization.

3- The five major factors of personality and their relation to unrealistic optimism among university students.

4- Differences in the relationship between the five major factors of personality and unrealistic optimism and gender and specialization variables.

To achieve this, the researchers adopted the Costa and Macri scale (1992) for the five major personality factors.

The scale was prepared in Arabic Al Ansari (2002).

The researchers also translated and translated the Sarina Martinez Scale (2016) into unrealistic optimism applied to university students.

After the adaptation to the Iraqi environment and to confirm the characteristics of the psychometric, and the results showed that the most important factor of the five major personality of university students is the diastolic factor, and there are differences between the sexes and specialization.

And that university students have unrealistic optimism, there are differences between the sexes and for the benefit of males, and there are no differences between specialization.

A positive relationship between the five major factors and optimism is unrealistic, and the factors are (Extraversion, Neuroticism , and Agreeableness).

There are also differences in the relationship between the five major factors and unrealistic optimism in favor of males, and there is no distinction between specialization.

To complement the current research, the researchers reached some recommendations and suggestions.
