The study aimed to analyze and assess the bylaw of study hours distribution and its relation to the student academic performance, and extract statistical indices that can contribute to the promotion of student academic performance.

The study was conducted on a purposive sample of Shaqra University students (All graduates from Thadiq College of Sciences & Humanities from 1435 to 1438; N = 221 students).

The study variables included student's status (progressing, stable and regressing), department (Business Administration, English, Physics and Computer Science) and gender (male and female).

Statistical indices used to extract results included Chi Square, Pearson Correlation Coefficient and means.

Adherence to registration of study hours based on grades was found to significantly affect students' grades.

Adherence to registration of study hours based on grades in the Business Administration and Computer Science departments was found to be lower than their counterpart in the English department.

It was also found that girls are significantly more abiding to planned registration of study hours than males.

Based on the findings of the study, it is recommended that students (except for level 8 students) should abide to registration of study hours based on their grades.
