Legal settlement of international disputes is generally achieved through the use of one of two means, namely, the international jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice and international arbitration, which relies on the parties to submit disputes to reach a binding decision by one or more arbitrators selected by or on behalf of Border dispute is particularly sensitive because it is a conflict between states with common borders, which has the effect of disturbing friendly relations between neighboring countries.

The jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) is only for states to be parties to lawsuits filed with the Court.

The ICJ's ruling on border disputes is final and cannot be appealed, but it may be reviewed if it is discovered after its issuance.
