The factors of the success of leadership in its tasks are determined by the fostering of the administrative educational system, the distributing of the teaching staff efforts and the achieving of the planned aims.

The successful principals is the result of many factors besides his personal traits, his acceptance of his work, his motivation to it, and the extend of foreseeing future situations and adjustment to them.

The study aims answering the following questions : 1-What is the leadership styles of secondary schools principals in the center of Ninevah Governorate ?.

2-What is the personal traits of secondary schools principals in the center of Ninevah Governorate ?.

3-What is the level of the motivation of secondary schools principals to their administrtive work? 4-What is the relationship between the leadership style of secondary schools principals in the center of Ninevah Governorate and their personal traits ?.

5-What is the relationship between the leadership style of secondary schools principals in the center of Ninevah governorate and their motivation towards administrative work?.

The study society consists of (115) male and female principals.

A sample consisting of (90) principals was chosen deliberately (48) of them were males and (42) were females.

To measure the leadership styles, the research used the Questionnaire of leadership style prepared by (Hersey and Blanchard).

The study also used the list of personal traits prepared by Fryborge.

The of motivation towards the administrtive work was constructed and validity and consistency of the three tools of the research were detected.

The study concludes with the following : 1- Concerning the first aim it was shown that (44.4%) of them preferred the directed style (33.3%) preferred the supporting style (12.2%) preferred the authorized style and (10%) prefer the training style.

2- The result of the second aim concerning the speed of readiness of stimulation indicated that the principals were characterized by solitude good mood and the ability of self-master, concerning the social dimension, result indicated the principals ability to interact with the others and make good relationship between leadership with them.

3-Concerning the relationship between leadership styles and personal characters of secondary school principals results showed that it was statistically insignificant.

4-Concerning relation between leadership styles and motivation level results showed that it was statistically insignificant.
