Abstract EN
This research handles the theme of the quest for the self in Henrik Ibsen's Peer Gynt, a subject that recurrently appears in his plays.
The hero, Peer Gynt, tries to find his true self in the society he inhabits.
He wages many experiences to reach self-realization but to no avail,It is concluded that one's true identity can be explored when one is ready to be absorbed into one's society.
Undoubtedly, sociability determines the individual's identity, whereas selfishness does not.
