Abstract EN

The study aims at answering the following questions :1- What is the ability level of intermediate school principals in Iraq in Educational Leadership ?.2- What is the level of Self-Confidence on the part of intermediate schoolprincipals in Iraq ?.3- What are the personal traits of the intermediate school principals in Iraq?.4- Is there statistically significant difference in Educational Leadership ability of the intermediate school principals in Iraq with regard to the variables of sex, age, years of service as principal and years of service in general ?.5- What is the nature of the relationship between the variable of ability ineducational leadership and the variable of self-confidence?,6- What is the nature of the relationship between the variable of ability ineducational leadership and the variable of personal traits?.This research is confined to the male and female principals of morning intermediate schools in the center of the following governorate : Baghdad, Ninevah and Basrah for the study year 2001 - 2002.The sample of the research which was selected randomly consists of (306) male and female principals of intermediate schools which onehundred and eighty-two are male while (124) are female.

They represent (60%) of the total number of principals.

The results are as follows :1- The ability level of the whole sample of intermediate school principalsin Iraq in' educational leadership was good.2- The level of self-confidence of intermediate school principals in Iraqwas also good.3- The most common personal trait was extroversion.4- The intermediate school principals in Iraq were stable characters.5- There was statistically significant positive relationship between theability of the educational leadership and self-confidence.6- There was also a positive relationship between the variable of the abilityof educational leadership and that of extroversion
