Pottery art is one of the industries that the Mesopotamian knew from an early period.

By the Mineral Stone Age, the pottery art had begun to expand gradually, so a civilization had appeared in this period that goes back from the year ©1 • • B.C.

to the use of writing nearly in the middle of the fourth millennium B.C.

historians and archaelogists divided this period of time into civilian phases that were called by the named of the Iraqi archaeological villages and sites in which they found art works for the first time, and many various ruins were found in these archaeological sites such as the plates made of pottery, some of them were found coloured, zigzaged or tossed.

They show clearly that the Iraqi man had developed significantly in these phase with the pottery art, his (skill) appeared in painting, craving and colouring in the ancient Iraq, he started colouring his tools, plates and his other productions that were made of baked clay and decorated them with decorative figures consist of plants, animals, geometrical and human figures.
