In the medical field, suffering, ill-being and illness are focused on and defined for the patient.
The vision of hospitals is focuses particularly on patient-care, its follow-up and the quality of the provided services, since he carries a somatic or psychic illness.
However,what about the caregiver, who suffers in his activity of care? Our work as a practitioner specialized in psychiatry in SidiChamispecialized hospital of Oran (Algeria) has allowed us to see not only the ill-being of the patient, but that of the caregiver as well.
We came to treat some colleagues on the psychic order.
We found suffering and burnout in the psychiatric hospital.
In this article, we illustrate a fieldwork in relation with a sociological survey, where we have gone beyond the psychological explanation of the phenomenon of burnout, to look for its socioprofessional determinants.
As such, we have tried to answer some questions: Is suffering in workplace specific to health workers? What are the determinants involved? Is burnout specific to the psychiatric environment?

Dans le champ médical, la souffrance, le mal-être et la maladie sont centrés sur et définis pour le patient.
La vision des hôpitaux se focalise particulièrement sur le patient-soigné, son suivi et la qualité des prestations fournies, étant donné qu’il est porteur d’un mal-être somatique et ou psychique.
Mais quand est-il du soignant, qui souffre dans son activité de soin ? Notre travail de praticien spécialiste en psychiatrie à l’établissement hospitalier spécialisé (EHS) de Sidi Chami d’Oran en Algérie nous a permis de voir, pas uniquement le mal être du soigné, mais celui du collègue soignant aussi.
Nous somme arrivé à prendre en charge certains collègues sur le plan psychique.
Nous avons constaté la souffrance et l’épuisement professionnel au sein de l’hôpital psychiatrique.
Dans cet article, nous illustrons un travail de terrain en rapport avec une enquête sociologique, où nous sommes allés au-delà de l’explication psychologique du phénomène de l’épuisement professionnel, à rechercher ses déterminants socioprofessionnels.
A ce titre, nous avons tenté de répondre à certaines questions : La souffrance au travail est-t-elle spécifique au personnel de santé ? Quel sont les déterminants en cause ? Est-ce que l’épuisement professionnel est spécifique au milieu psychiatrique ?
