The changes that accompanied the end of the Cold War prompted Turkey to redefine its regional role and to achieve the objective of improving its regional and international standing and importance.

Turkey has succeeded in improving its internal and economic conditions and strengthening its relations with its regional neighbors, which has reflected positively on its regional and international standing.

This was evident in the years 2002 – 2011, but it changed after 2011, especially with the latest change that took place in a number of Arab countries in 2011.

Turkey's regional and international status has declined due to its regional policy adopted towards its neighboring countries by intervening the internal affairs of those countries and their support for an internal party at the expense of the other parties, as happened in Egypt, and its involvement in the events in Syria since 2011 and so far, and interference with the Iraqi issue, and other interventions that affected a number of countries.
