Abstract EN

The objective of this study was to evaluate the information and communication technology (ICT) educational services provided to public/ government special education schools in Kuwait—by assessing the extent of its availability and use.

A quantitative descriptive analysis evaluation research design was utilized—specifically, systems analysis methodology.

A stratified sample of 18 public special education schools in Kuwait participated in this study.

The questionnaire was distributed to the participants, and interviews were carried on with schools representatives for data collection purpose.

Descriptive statistics were employed to analyze the data.

This study helped us providing a realistic in-depth analysis of the current situation in Kuwait’s government special education schools regarding the ICT educational services provided to them by the Ministry of Education (MOE).

The results revealed that there is a huge digital divide/ gap and a large disability-based discrimination between special education schools and the rest of the public/ government schools.

This study affirmed that the use of ICT tools, apps, services, and resources in special education schools to serve the educational process in all its aspects is very trivial.

Kuwait’s education leaders and policy/ decision makers may benefit from the findings/ recommendations of this study to take what they deem appropriate on the subject of ICT educational services provided for persons with disabilities in special education schools.
