Abstract EN

The study represents a new attempt of its kind in the methodology of geographical analysis, as one of the tools of the statistical scientific method (calculation and analysis of index-numbers) in the analysis of a geopolitical-economic phenomenon (average total expenditure of households on goods and services in Iraq in accordance with market prices) spatially between the governorates of Iraq, and over successive periods of time, as a follow-up and interpretation of the spatial and temporal relations of the phenomenon and the determination of its directions, based on the data of the surveys carried out by the ministry of planning in the period mentioned for families in Iraq.

it was carried out in accordance with the steps and literature of scientific research, where the theoretical framework of the study was illustrated, and the steps of statistical analysis were shown using the applications of the index numbers, and the results were taken and discussed statistically, and the interpretation of their variations according to their geographical facts, and the ability to simulate the hypotheses of the study.

the study showed that there is a spatial and temporal variation in the volume of household spending between the provinces of Iraq during the calculated period, according to the applications of the variable basis in the indices, as the change in the indices (up and down) all the provinces of Iraq for reasons that can be summed up in the instability economic, political and social as a result of the accumulation of the American occupation of Iraq and then the crises that Iraq went through, namely the fall in oil prices and the occupation of daish, which reflected the dynamic sway of the change in the level of household spending on goods and services.
