Tomato are considered an important agricultural vegetable crop in the Egyptian crop composition, as they are among the food and industrial crops on which some food industries are based, and an important source of national agricultural income, and obtaining the foreign exchange necessary to advance economic development.

In spite of the economic and nutritional importance of tomato crops, where environmental and climatic conditions are available locally, which can be cultivated throughout the year, the cultivated area and total production is characterized by fluctuation, instability and stability in all lugs of tomato crop during the study period (2000-2017) as shown in the attached table No.

(1), which results in wide fluctuations in the quantities offered according to the prevalence of market mechanisms, leaving free prices to be determined automatically according to the interaction of strong supply and demand.

The research aimed to study the production and consumption of tomato crops in the Arab Republic of Egypt by studying the production indicators for tomato crops in Egypt during the period (2000-2017) and identifying the most important factors affecting the consumption of tomato crops in Egypt during that period, and estimating the supply response functions for summer tomato crop in Egypt, and estimating the supply response functions using some competing crop variables for summer tomato crop in Egypt during that period.In light of the above, the researcher presented the following: 1- Cultivation of the high yielding acre varieties, and this requires working to provide improved seeds and distribute them to farmers, which leads to an increase in total production.

2- Encouraging the production of tomatoes for manufacturing and export, while applying the latest production methods in agriculture, and allocating areas for this production, preferably in new lands, which are characterized by the possibility of providing relatively large holdings that have the advantages of large production.

3- Activating the role of the agricultural extension apparatus towards absorbing modern technology in growing tomatoes and communicating them to the farmer through training courses in order to increase production.

4- Paying attention to setting an appropriate price policy for production requirements in order to reduce the production costs of tomato crops, increase the net yield from them and encourage their cultivation.
