Abstract EN

This study aims to find the actual number of primary one pupils with Articulation disorders in Mecca.

It also aims to identify the most common Articulation disorder among primary one pupils in Mecca, to recognize the need for speech specialists and teachers in the field of speech training in schools, and to provide special education services for those pupils in schools, to achieve this objective, the researcher used the analytical descriptive approach.

The researcher also used the pronunciation photographer diagnostic test prepared by Amayra (1994) as a tool for her study.

The study community consisted of all primary one pupils in Mecca.

The study sample consisted of primary one pupils in public schools where there are teachers for speech training in Mecca.

The number of the study sample is 1246 pupils.

The results of the study concluded that the prevalence percentage of Articulation disorders among pupils the first grade in Mecca was 11.95 %.

Results revealed that substitution disorder is the most prevalent disorder among primary one pupils in Mecca, with a percentage of 3.7 % of the total number of pupils, followed by distortion disorder (1.28 %), then the omission disorder (0.67 %), and finally the addition disorder with a percentage of (0.25 %) of speech disorders that are most prevalent among primary one pupils in Mecca.

Results showed that speech disorder is most common at the beginning of the word, with a percentage of 2.6 % of the total words for the study sample, followed by speech disorder at the middle of the word (1.8), and the speech disorder at the end of the word came last with a percentage of 1.57 %, Results also revealed that the most disordered sound among pupils the first grade in Mecca is the sound of /R/, as it came first between the most disordered sound among primary one pupils in Mecca, with a percentage of 0.64% of the total words of the study sample.
