The research aims to identify the effect using of using mind map strategy in Cognitive Achievement and retention and acquisition in handball.

Also, to acquisition of some offensive handball skills, the research sample consisted of (36) students selected from among the students of the second year in the college of Physical Education / University of Dohuk for the academic year 2016 - 2017.

They were divided randomly by the toss into two groups of (18) students for each group after excluding a number of the research community.

The teaching strategy (mind map and classical strategy) has been distributed randomly by the toss to the two research groups.

The research procedures included designing a form to measure the level of skillful performance for both research groups for some offensive skills to determine the degree of each stage of skill performance according to their dynamic structure.

The researchers identified the scientific material that taught in the first semester and after they checked the curriculum of handball for the second year students, for the purpose of measuring cognitive achievement, which requested from the researchers to design an achievement test to reveal the cognitive aspects of handball for the second year, that is owned by each of the sample members.

The study procedure included preparation of a Specifications table for the content of the subject in the college of Physical Education - University of Dohuk / and the first three levels of knowledge for Bloom.

The importance of the content for each topic was determined in the subject, which depends on the number of teaching hours required by the course content The research included conducting a number of exploratory experiments for the cognitive and skillful scale and the educational session in the research as well as applying the scale to the sample of the scale.

The researchers used the statistical analysis of the test questions for the achievement test of the handball for students of the second year of the College of Education - Department of physical education University of Zakho to detect the level of ease and difficulty of the test questions and the extraction of the coefficient of discrimination questions in order to improve the test and determine the validity of the application as well as the disclosure of cognitive levels of the content of the subject.

The implementation of the educational program took 10 actual weeks, two teaching units per week for each group.

The period of the teaching unit was 90 minutes.

The researchers Turned to retest the three groups at the same day after 30 days on 28/3/2017.

After obtaining the results of the retention test, the results of the test were compared to identify the differences between the two tests, and obtain the improvement degree the average of reduction of the Scientific subject after leaving the three groups, and the study found that there were statistically significant differences (0.05) between the mean of the experimental group and the average score of the control group in the cognitive achievement as well as the level of retention of cognitive achievement in acquiring some offensive handball skills and for the experimental group.
