The study aims to shed light on the relationship between investment in education and the privatization of the university education sector.
It also shows the reality of the university education sector and previous experiences of some countries in investing in education and the privatization of the university education sector.
The problem of the study is represented by the following main question: Is there a relationship between investment in education and the privatization of the University education sector? In order to investigate this, the study relied on the descriptiveanalytical method using the linear regression functions OLS.
Therefore, the multiple regression model was applied during the period (2000 - 2019) using the SPSS program.
The results of the study showed a statistically significant effect of government spending on the university education sector on human resources and the number of students on total government spending, a positive relationship between investment in education, spending cuts, and the privatization of the university education sector.
This is quite in line with Saudi Arabia’s 2030 strategy aimed at rationalizing government spending.
The study recommends the necessity of setting criteria to qualify the private sector to invest in education to ensure the quality of education, attracting foreign investment in university education by promoting an attractive investment environment by directing public money to investment in the university sector and providing opportunities, investment options, and financing in educational buildings to investors.
Universities should transform their scientific centers into accredited consulting centers in all disciplines that provide various services and consultations in a profitable manner and use them along with the untapped potential in universities as income earning sources
