Abstract EN

Coherence is one of the important elements in literary texts because it limits the text and forms a coherent structure which is interrelated closely through the relationship between the word and its next one and the phrase and its next phrase.

One of the texts which is significant in this coherent and cohesive structure is the Emam Ali's letter to the governor of Basra, Otman Bin Hineif Alansari.

This letter is a great work of art regarding its structure and content and it is a great treasure that worth studying we, in this descriptive analytical study try to survey the textual coherence in the text of the letter and find its role to acquiring coherence and congruity Also, we aim to find out the elements of the text and to analyse its internal relationships and its level of coherence and congruity.

We concluded that this chosen letter is characterized in a coherent and cohesive framework and its parts are related constantly based on applying technical means that helps uniting the structure and transferring the meant purposes.
