This article attempts to explain how organized crime impacts on the instability that characterizes the states of the Sahelian region.
In doing so, we first wanted to mark out the definitional scope of the term "organized crime".
We also wanted to account for the social dimension of organized crime by analyzing its modus operandi of development and implantation within Sahelian societies.
We also address the political aspect, which provides a better understanding of the influence that illicit activities can have on the erosion of state authority and governance through the infiltration of organized crime into the highest spheres of the state.
The security dimension is addressed through the way in which organised crime perpetuates conflicts and consolidates terrorism in the region.

Le présent article tente d'expliquer comment la criminalité organisée impact sur l'instabilité qui caractérise les Etats de la région sahélienne.
En cela nous avons voulu d'abord, baliser le champ définitionnel du terme « crime organisé ».
On a également voulu rendre compte de la dimension sociale du crime organisé en analysant son modus operandi de développement et d'implantation au sein des sociétés sahéliennes.
Nous abordons également le volet politique, qui permet de mieux comprendre l'influence que peuvent avoir les activités illicites sur l'érosion de l'autorité étatique ainsi que sur la gouvernance à travers l'infiltration du crime organisé dans les plus hautes sphères de l'Etat.
La dimension sécuritaire, est aborder à travers la manière dont le crime organisé pérennise les conflits et consolide le terrorisme dans la région.
