يبحث هذا المقال في حقيقة و طبيعة العمران خارج أسوار المدينة العربية الإسلامية القديمة و التي غالبا ما يجتمع حولها بعدما عجزت عن توفير الشروط الضرورية للعيش بداخله و بالتالي تتكون تجمعات سكنية خارجيه.
وقد يكون أيضا ناتج عن تضخم عمران المدينة مما يؤدي إلى هذا التوسع الذي هو من خصوصيات المدينة الإسلامية التي تبرز في الملامح العامة للتخطيط العمراني وفي تركيب السكنات.
نحاول في هذا البحث تناول أهم الاشكاليات التي تطرحها هذه الفضاءات الضاحوية الموقع المبهمة الوظائف المختلفة التسمية وذلك من بعض الجوانب الأساسية مثل: مفهوم المصطلح و دلالته تطوره التاريخي مكوناته العمرانية و الاجتماعية من خلال تحليل نماذج متعددة من المدن العربية الإسلامية.
Abstract EN
This article examines the reality and nature of urbanization outsider the ramparts of the ancient Arab-Islamic city; after reaching a phase of urban and demographic saturation, which made it unable to provide the necessary conditions to live indoors.
This allowed the formation of periurban settlements; absorb all the expansions and occupations that have not found space within their walls.
And it has become one of the most important features of the urbanization of the ancient Arab-Islamic city.
We try in this research to address the major problems posed by these suburban spaces by position; ambiguous by these multiplication appellations and terminologies, and this through these essential aspects such as: the concept el rabed or suburban; its meaning, and its historical evolution.
These physical and urban components.
These socio-cultural functions and this through multiple examples of central Maghreb cities.

Cet article examine la réalité et la nature de l'urbanisation en dehors des remparts de l'ancienne ville arabo-islamique; après avoir atteinte une phase de saturation urbaine et démographique, qui y rendue incapable de fournir les conditions nécessaires pour y vivre à l'intérieur.
Ce qui a permis la formation des agglomérations périurbaines, absorbent toutes les expansions et les occupations qui n'ont pas trouvées d'espace à l'intérieur de leurs murs.
Et c'est devenu l'une les plus importantes caractéristiques de l'urbanisation des anciennes villes arabo-islamiques.
Nous essayons dans cette Recherche d’aborder les problématiques majeures posées par ces espaces périurbains par position; ambiguë par ces multiples appellations et terminologies, et cela à travers ces aspects essentiels tels que: le concept el rabed ou banlieue; sa signification, et son évolution historique.
Ces composantes physique et urbain.
Ces fonctions socio-culturelles, et cela à travers de multiples exemples de villes du Maghreb central.
