Abstract EN

This study aimes at identifying the extent of examination of first year students’ attitudes at King Abdulaziz University towards the communication skills field, and the expected advantages of studying this course, and the most prominent advantages gained during its academic hours, especially in terms of speaking and presenting skills, as well as reading, writing, listening, discussion and persuasion skills.

In this study, The researcher uses the descriptive survey method, with relying on the questionnaire method as the main tool to obtain the significant information from the study sample, which includes a number of first year students of King Abdulaziz University.

The results of the study revealed the examination outcomes of male and female students ’attitudes towards the subject of communication skills to a high extent, with speaking and presenting skills occupying the first rank in the most learned skills during the learning process of communication skills subject, in addition to the study examining the students’ attuirudes toward the evaluation methods used in the subject, which came up as the most challenging aspect of students processding through coarses.
