This article examines and analyzes the content of legal texts related to the regulation of the exploitation of agricultural lands in the ancient civilization of Iraq, according to what was stated in the law of the Babylonian king Hammurabi, Who paid special attention to the agricultural sector throughout his reign, which was between (1792-1750 BC), Where he issued twenty-five legal articles related to agriculture in which he specified the types of agricultural lands (fields, orchards, pastures, wastelands), their ownership and provisions related to their lease, And he identified the agricultural relations between the owners of the land, orchards and farmers, and also spoke about the excesses that may occur on such property and the resulting penalties.
