In this research we will attempt to study the dialectic of heritage and modernity in Islamic thought, and to show the specificity of this subject in the thought of researcher Mohammed Akroun, who seeks to overcome the narrow traditional ideas that do not exceed descriptive study, and he is opening the field of interpretation in Islamic thought and re-reading the Koran text according to the latest developments in contemporary life, in addition to consider ideas and the need to revitalize them, update them and keep up with the bet.

Mohammed Akroun called for the new interpretation of the Koran, he seeks to invest social and human science, and its approach to Islamic religious texts in order to overcome the surface of thought, overcome the narrow interpretation and closure of arab Islamic thought.

Through this project, Arkoun presents us a means to re-read the Islamic religious discourse, connect with the past and separate from it at the same time, demonstrates the value of interpretation in the construction of modern Islamic knowledge and thought.
