Abstract EN

During the modern era, the region of Touat in the Algerian South witnessed an active cultural movement which gave it the opportunity to develop relationships with the neighboring cities and countries in the field of science.

Travelling was one of the factors that helped Touat to develop these relationships.

The people of Touat were mainly interested in the city of Tunisia which was an open door for scientists and students for centuries.

Those scholars lived in Tunisia for a long period of time, and the coming generations were named after their ancestors such as, Eshaikh Mohamad Etouati (d 1622), Eshaikh Ahmida Etouati (d 1774), and many other figures.

To a great extent, the people of Touat enriched the cultural life in Tunisia and left their noticeable trace in it and in many other cities.
