Names and titles of the Jews of Algeria: a study on its origins, meanings and significance during the Ottoman period.

The Jews of Algeria, like other members of Algerian society during the Ottoman period, cared for their names and occupied an important place in life and even after death.

They had many meanings and significance, mainly religious connotations, and the connotations that reflected emotion, beauty, Physical and other.

As a religious minority, the Jews were known by several names and nicknames to reflect their legal status, ethnic affiliation and date of presence in Algeria.

This study aims at shedding light on the meanings and connotations of the names and titles of the Jews of Algeria, with reference to those titles that were launched and known in Algerian society, which were associated with their Jewish identity, history and diverse origins
