Abstract EN

The reign of the Antonines (96-180 AD) is considered as the begining of the serious thinking about establishing a real Limes line for protecting Roman area in Caisarean Mauritania, and defending it against dangers of Moorish tribes especially the Mountain and southern nomads, and for separating the Roman world from the independent Mauritania .

This defense line consist of several military fortifications which had a strategic locations such as the Rapidum camp, in the foothils of Tittris mountains , that represented an important military base in controling this natural area.

This camp was built under the reign of Emperor Hadrian in 122 after the period of disorders that Caisarean Mauritania passed through.
