Abstract : This study aims at highlighting the mythical symbolism of Badr Shaker Sayyab’s poetry, its reasons, and illustrates his strategy in the selection of symbols and what distinguishes his methodology.

We have concluded from this study the manifest development of Sayyab’s usage of mythical language, starting with using these symbols as metaphors, down to building the whole poem on a single one in order to allow himself some freedom in treatment of the myth with a perspective that serves his poetic aims through its suggestive ability.
