Abstract EN

This study reveals the nature of the self through observing different philosophical views that seek to interpret it appropriately on the basis of separation and connection at the same time.

In effect, the clashes between the ancient Western philosophical trends left a deep rift in the mental and epistemological system; therefore, modern researches came to treat it and answer the question related to knowing the self versus the other and going beyond ego centeredness.

It is closely related to human being ontological concern, the relationship between the individual and external world, and his ability to reach truth and decipher cosmic knowledge and existence essence.

Thus, we conclude that the self in modern Western philosophy is no longer that introverted self frightened of the other, but instead, it is identical that rejects transcendent central tendency.

It is a rupture with narcissistic deposits of ego and wounds of the monogamous cogito and a triumph of the plurality of the self and its openness.
