Abstract EN

The Aim of study : The study explores the tendency of couples to family dialogue and the level of marital harmony, and gauges the relationship between couples’ tendency to dialogue and marital harmony in Balqarn region.

The Methodology of study: The researcher adopted the descriptive comparative approach; he used a method for measuring the levels of family dialogue and marital harmony, which was devised by Faraj and Abdullah in 1999 and applied by Dr.

Al-Amoudi to environment researches in Saudi Arabia in 2001.

The community of study is composed of newly married couples who have yet to beget children in Balqarn region and neighboring AlNimas, Tannouma, and Bishah in 2017.

The community is a random sample of 217 couples.

The main conclusions of the study: The study shows an average level of family dialogue in Balqarn region averaged at 2.85; and also an average level of marital harmony, averaged at 3.18.

It also shows a positive correlation averaged at 0.839 between marital harmony and family dialogue, that is to say, the more couples tend to dialogue the more marital harmony they get.

The study also shows some variations between the sample of couples who are married less than one year ago and those who were married more than two years ago; the couples of the first category were more inclined to dialogue, though both shows an average level of marital harmony for both categories.

There is a statistically significant variation in the tendencies of couples to dialogue and its dimensions on one hand and marital harmony and its dimensions on the other; this difference is attributable to the variant of levels of education, the number of hours couples spend daily on social media, and the kind of their work.

Moreover, there is a variation in the tendency toward family dialogue attributed to sex variant in favour of male couples.
