Abstract EN

The study aimed at identifying the varied uses of social networks by university students, the most important foundations of confronting intellectual extremism, and the repercussions of the social networks on the phenomenon of intellectual extremism.

The study also sought to detect the existence of statistically significant differences between the average responses of the sample members based on two variables: gender and specialization, and, eventually, to formulate a proposed scenario for effective use of social networks to confront the intellectual extremism.

One hundred-twenty students, from Al-Azhar University, participated in the study.

The results of the present study showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the average responses of the study sample members attributed to the variables of gender and specialization.

The study proposed a scenario for employing social networks to confront the intellectual extremism among university students.
