This study considers an important grammatical item in Arabic.

It is concerned with the dispute over the addition of the definite article أي / al / to the word ْا / aan/, meaning time to.

The study discussed and presented in detail the viewpoints of grammarians on this topic.

The dispute was solely over whether this article is an affix, or part of the stem.

The researcher provided evidence of its occurrence from Arabic language and the Holly Quraan.

The research paper followed the descriptive, analytical method.

Many results were reached, but the most important thing is the conclusion that اي in Arabic is part of the word ْاال and not an affix.
