Abstract AR

Abstract EN

The Afghan-Soviet relations for the period (1953-1963) preoccupy a special importance in the order of fundamental issues for international relations in central Asia where the Soviet Union represents a world power and Afghanistan represents an important strategic location for it.

There is no doubt that both countries are geographical adjacent.

In view of the capabilities enjoyed by the Soviet Union, political and economic cooperation continued to be outstanding between the two countries during this period.

The significance of studying this subject lies in the fact that it is unstudied academically before.

Despite the many publications, researches and periodicals dealing with the modern and contemporary political history of Afghanistan, yet all these have neglected its policy as regards the foreign relations with super powers and especially its powerful neighbor, the Soviet Union.

If any reference has been made unto it in some studies, such a study would be inaccurate in its details.

This is in addition to the importance of any political study of Afghanistan during this period because of the international variants that took place in the world after the second world war among which considering Afghanistan as one of the countries in south and central Asia that formed an integral part of the Soviet Union national security with respect to protecting its southern borders.
