Abstract EN

On the Egyptian scene, during the first decade of the new millennium, many movements emerged demanding change.

The most important of these movements is the Kefaya movement (Egyptian Movement for Change) , which aimed primarily changing the ruling regime، which sees that changing it will change the reality of the present Egyptian reality.

To this end, the movement has tried to mobilize the masses under the same objective through various means and mechanisms such as demonstrations، protests, conferences, statements and other means which it believes will achieve this objective through its vertical penetration within the Egyptian political community as well as its attempt to horizontal penetration within the Egyptian society by expanding its roles in the political, economic and social aspects.

The movement believes that reform will only be achieved through the unification of Egyptian society under one goal, The Change, which all seek to achieve.

Since the emergence of the Kefaya movement، it has influenced and been influenced the Egyptian reality, especially since it has always sought to play a role in the most prominent and important events in Egyptian society, including presidential elections, parliamentary elections, referendum on constitutional amendments and other issues.

However, the impact of the movement soon was reduced to a large extent and the great hopes of many Egyptians people on it was also decreased.

Kefaya is the basis for the emergence of youth protest movements that played an important role in the revolution of January 25, 2011 and ousted former president Mohamed Hosni Mubarak.
