The study aimed to identify the theoretical and intellectual frameworks for national security and its dimensions, and to uncover the global and local challenges to national security, as well as to reach recommendations and proposals for Libyan universities to address national security challenges.

The study used the descriptive method to extrapolate information gathered from sources and references on the national security challenges facing Libyan universities.

The study reached a set of recommendations and proposals for Libyan universities to confront the challenges of national security and the importance of the Libyan universities, through their various research and service channels, to spread a culture of preserving national security, applying the national dimension in the message, vision and goals of Libyan universities, and to be stipulated in the laws and university legislation, working to guide Scientific research to serve national security issues and challenges, prepare curricula in various disciplines that address concepts and issues of national security and the most prominent challenges that threaten it and ways and methods of confrontation and treatment, make the most of university student activities in the value and behavioral formation of students and workers in Libyan universities, work to provide the necessary capabilities when desired In creating new specializations required by the Libyan community, working to consolidate and enhance the values of belonging and patriotism.
