Abstract EN

This study aims to illustrate the role of American Geographical School in developing Geographical Informational System (GIS).

It is considered as one of the most rapidly developing countries which is worth studying in this field.

As it is known, GIS is a set of procedures represented in collecting and analyzing digital data as well as analyzing maps and air photos and presented as an information tool for decision making, that is why the study comes to show the first seed for GIS and the levels of its development up to this day, followed by the descriptive and analytical historical approach and the comparative approach.

This study showed the importance of these sciences in all the fields of life in general, and in geography of human and nature as an integral part of it.

It is importance comes from drawing precise maps reaching accurate results closer to reality and in reaching mathematical samples and hypothesis to solve environmental and societal crises.
