Abstract EN

This study aimed to know the predictive value of self- compassion and social support in prediction of psychological well-being, and to know the degree of difference between averages of the degrees of sample members according to the elements of this study (self- compassion - social support - psychological well-being) due to the differences of (educational level of mother - economic level of family - type and degree of handicap).

The sample of this study contained 187 mothers of special needs persons in Jeddah.

To achieve the aims of this study, we applied the scale of self- compassion, which were prepared by Dr.

Kristin Neff (Neff, 2003) and were translated by the researcher, the scale of social support, which were prepared by Ibraheem Al-outhman (2012), and the scale of psychological well-being, which were prepared by Afra kahlil (2012).

This study proved the predictive possibility of self- compassion and social support in prediction of psychological well-being among the sample members.

Moreover, this study did not show any differences between the variables of the study (self- compassion - psychological well-being) according to variables of (educational level of mother, economical level, the type and degree of handicap).

The study showed differences between the averages of the sample members in social support due to the difference in only the educational level of mother.

The other elements such as economical level and the type and degree of handicap showed no differences in the degrees of sample members due to social support.
