Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the nature of the political movements that appeared against the sultans who ruled Oman, during the period of time between (1198 AH - 1783 AD - 1314 AH - 1896 AD), the role of scientists in it, in addition to its goals and results.

In order to achieve the purpose of this study, the study relied on the historical analytical approach.

The study reached a number of results, the most important of which are: 1- All the political movements that were carried out against the sultans, and the scholars were involved in them, are movements whose aim is to restore the Imam regime, starting with the events of Nizwa in 1198 AH-1783 AD, the first movements that aimed at isolating Sayyid bin Imam Ahmad from power, Political movements led by Sheikh Saleh al-Harthy in different time periods during the period from 1287 AH-1871 AD until his death in 1314 AH / 1896 AH.

2- There are political factors for these movements led by scientists, and are either injustice, injustice and injustice, and this was one of the reasons for the revolution against Mr.

Said bin Imam Ahmed, or reasons related to the desire of some aspiring personalities to reach power, through alliance with scientists, This has happened on many occasions, including: the alliance of Mr.

Sultan bin Imam with Sheikh Ja'ed bin Khamis al-Kharousi, and the alliance of Mr.

Hamoud bin Azan with Sheikh Saeed bin Khalfan Khalili.

3- That all political movements in which scientists participated, did not achieve their stated objectives, which is to restore the system of Imamate, and this is due primarily to the lack of political consensus on the objectives of those political movements.
