Abstract EN

The importance of Internet, in the few past years, has increased.

Therefore, some people consider it as a new communication means that can replace the traditional communication ones.

Internet, as a new communication means, has some advantages and characteristics.

The first one is interactivity between its users.

The second is selectivity which allows the user to select from the huge information available on the Internet.

The individuals deal with the Internet more personally and freely than all the other communicative means.

This in turn has several effects particularly on youth.

Consequently, the identification of moral rules and regulations is an essential matter in respect of the Internet use.

The assessment of Internet use ethics is vital that research should tackle and triy to find out the effects of its use on the university students' ethics.

The present study tried to achieve some objectives.

The first one was the identification of the university students' Internet use rate and hours average.

The second one was the definition of the places they visit for using the Internet.

The third was the examination of the services offered on the Internet to them.

The fourth one was the investigation of the topics on the visited websites by the present study sample.

The fifth was the identification of Internet misuses reported by the study sample.

The last one was the examination of the sample's recommendations for more moral control.

The present study tried to reach some results related to the effect of using the Internet on university students' ethics: A field study on northern border university students.

It was a descriptive one that used the mass media survey method.

It depended on a questionnaire for gathering information.

The study sample consisted of 300 students at the Northern Border University (150 male and 150 female) during the academic year 2008-2009.

The study revealed general results that can be applied in the field of mass media studies and that reveal the effects of using the Internet on the University students' ethics
