The article aims to shed light on the image of the Arab city in light of the ordeal experienced by Algeria in the nineties of the last century during the black decade's period, through the presentation of Taher Watar in his binary: candles and the mezzanine and the pure wali returns to his rightful place, by looking at the relationship that links the city as a geographical factor in the elimination of violence in all its forms.

From this point of view, the article seeks to answer the fundamental problem: - What is the image taken by the Arab city in the watarian Metn novel in light of the black decade in Algeria?
